Hi dont know whether its a common fault but my fuel gauage always says the same amount no matter how much i put in! im guessing a dodgy sensor or something. I can keep track of my mielage but this could end in tears one day so could anyone advise how to get it working??!
Cheers

either the wires are at fault or the van has been left standing too long without enough fuel in the tank and the sender has corroded at that point...
if it isnt down to wiring, its a tank out job........... i wouldnt bother, the fuel gauges on these are crap anyway, unless you are level the go all over the place, do a couple of brim to brim mileage tests and then only use the top half of the tank about 3/4 of your estimated miles per tank, you'll be as reliable as the gauge ever was.....

hi harrymann,
the fleet is fine, thanks....although we are static at three. It seems the fourth that we were given was too goood to be true....as it wasn't there when we went to collect it, as advised, after a week or so! However, always ready to rehome genuine lost and lonely vans!!
Turns out that the guy who gave us the keys wasn't the registered owner - he had been given it himself, and had never got the paperwork from the registered owner. Damn glad we didn't move it now!!!
Anyway, Ermie fine, Scooby's clutch is still working nicely, but she has developed a squeak - think its the wishbone rubbers??? - and Brunhilda is being gassed on Monday.
Still love 'em to bits, though!!
take care - thanks for the enquiry,
Emma

I recall a number of threads on this: "Don't worry if your gauge fails, top up the tank and it might come back to life at some point." I now use my van for work, it's disconcerting to say to colleagues that I can't drive them here or there because I'm not sure how much bloody fuel I've got.
I've now got three green 5L petrol cans and live in a permanent state of anxiety.
My tank is coming out and a new sender is going in. Croaking out on a busy motorway one day made me realise how serious a risk this was. I'd run out of fuel, pulled up on the hard shoulder and a lorry lost some timber just where I'd stopped. As I happily topped up my tank on the offside from my green can I realised how close to death I was as vehicles tried to avoid the obstruction. It was clear that I was the last barrier to their progress. Really mfrightening
