hi ive just purchased a polo 1.9 n/a diesel engine for my van.
but ive noticed that there are a lot more electrical wires on it.
theres wires going to the injector pump etc.
will it be a bugger to wire this up or should i try and put my old pump on it?
this engine came with all the flywheel and clutch on it, will i have to change this or will it fit as it is?
also is there anything else i need to be aware of?
has anyone else fitted one of these?
its from a late polo, i think the guy said it was a AEF engine, whatever that means.
all advice appreciated.
thanks

AEF engine
I have fitted this engine in my van,i used the flywheel off my original 1.6d
i got access to the rear of injection pump and wired the fuel cut off up to original live and added earth, i then used resistor so i dont have problems starting engine when warm.It runs fine and i hope this is not doing any harm as i have now covered over 5000 miles. My number 07917542685 if anybody wants to view or advise me.

1.6 or 1.9 pump
weazelchin, did you swop over your pump to the 1.6 and did it run ok?
im now in the process of getting ready to fit the motor, now shall i put on the 1.6 pump or stick with the 1.9 and try to wire it up?
and how do you wire it up?
cheers

leave everything on the engine, dont swap anything. (except, sump, oil pickup, flywheel etc), get a spigot bearing for a 1.6d. on my fuel pump there were wires coming out all over the place, is there a black box on your pump? if so, smash it off with a hammer and chisel and underneath there will be a wire connection, connect it to the wire that went to the top of your old pump, thats it "done" ignore the other wires "cut them off" after the engine is running !!!! i needed to tow the van round the block in gear to get the fuel through etc, even though the starter was brand new it was working too hard. i had a right nightmare with all those pump wires but like everything, when youve done it once "its easy"
