Westy bed....argh bad back.

Post by torz »

Are we the only ones who find the Westy bed damned HARD to sleep on, I know the Germans were a bit tight with a grill but come on, the bed is awfull.................

I am pondering either recovering the seats with softer stuff or buying a thin (2inch) memory foam mattress topper.......Problem is, if I recover I then lose that "oooh its a genuine Westy, with stupidly light grey seats!!" look.........

We've tried the quilt underneath bit but it tends to ruck up and really its still bl00dy hard, like sleeping on a park bench!!!!!!!!!!!!
I even considered letting the kids jump up and down all over it for hours on end, just to try and soften it up a bit :?

So come on you Westy owners and others a like, tell me is yours hard too

If so, how did you cure it and any other (clean) suggestions most welcome......

I'm off to put some radiant B on me back..........

yes i thought of that ..but........ with it only being 46inches wide, a mattress topper is going to be too big and wide and bulky to roll up during the day......

I think memory foam is the best option, if i can get one that is 1-2 inches thick and only 4 foot wide then we are sorted and I can stop being an old lasy with a bad back when we are camping, which is most of the time....

As a veggie of some 22 years standing I would like to point out that we are mostly thin and boney and are no substitute for a good mattress.

Torz, I find flattening the kids down a bit and sleeping on them helps, if you jump on them enough they soften up nicely.

I await the knock from Social Services :D

"yeah, but torz has a spare one knocking about she could use....."

not sure what value a "spare" veggie would be, perhaps in an overcropping situation at the local allotment maybe.

But on a serious note, the hard Westy bed really helps my back, damaged after years of VW abuse trying to lift blocks by myself when swapping beach buggy engines - not bright, but I was young and foolish.

Blurb, I think they may be refering to in infamous Matt, he's a veggie, he lives with Tory and the spare bit would seem to be a bit of a dig as it were.

I couldn't sleep on Matt, he never takes his mohair vest off and it would tickle my nose all night...

However, there's a lot to be said about being a vegetarian, I have lost 2 stone since January just by not eating meat and I feel a lot healthier. 8)

But going back to the Horrible Westy park bench bed, I could just sell the damn thing and buy another one
