Strange water hose (Pics added)
Folks! hi!
I was trying to fix a broken water hose from the water pump to the cylinder head and I saw it has inside a plastic or teflon piece with a 5mm hole in it, whats that for? Is that normal in my engine (1.6Td)?? Do I install it again or not?
Thx in advance!

Thx for all ur answers
just kidding... I will try to make a better question meaning the same...
Why has that water hose a plastic thing with smaller hole through it? is not normal if the water hose has inside more or less 15mm of interior diameter suddenly a 5mm inside diameter...
I feel like a f****** alien

It doesn't seem like its something that would get in there by accident... someone must have met this before?
A suggestion from boss-man, could it be to restrict water flow and allow build up of pressure behind it for some reason.
I take it that it is solid material (apart from the hole through the middle) rather than a filter spongey type thing?

In the Uk or Ireland this is not a standard fitting.
I personaly would remove it.
In all my years of diesel and petrol machines, mercedes benz, opel astra, honda civic, lot of land rovers and blablablah, I never seen that also... but it works, and by the way this van was bought in Germany in 1986 and was imported to the Canary Islands, Spain, in 2004 or so... I don't know if German cars have special specs...

Finally I used the water hose without that part... It has worked all the kilometres I have driven around Europe... Here in Burgos, Spain, one of my cousins has a garage and he told me that thing is installed inside the water hose to avoid high pressures inisde the refrigeratrion system... I really don't know if that is the correct answer or not but my vans runs okay!...
