steering wheels

Post by angry vanagon »

there are two type's of golf steering wheels upto 88 and 88 on the upto 88 model bolts straight on i've done this on mine but i needed a thin washer about 4mm thick to stop up and down play in column there is a early to late column adaptor bush that vw used on 88 on mk2 golf's etc never fitted on to a bus but i imagine they would fit ok to adapt your wheel

Be aware that the smaller wheel will obstruct your oil, charging, main beam and turn signal dash lights.

And, as already mentioned, it makes the steering even harder to turn than it already is.

I've had a Golf and a Polo wheel on my van, took them off ( I needed to keep an eye on my warning lights) and put the original one back, if you decide to use a smaller wheel get a hard rubber 'O' ring to act as a spacer otherwise the top steering column bush will ride up and allow the wheel to flop about like h~ll.
