Yup, done as part of the sump modification - just got the dipstick back as they took it out and put it on a shelf when they got the sump...... and left it on the shelf!
Still 28 of their dollars later I have the dipstick and tube back!
Did you hook up the Check Engine light on yours?

Diamond how much oil capacity have you lost with your shortened sump as I took mine off today and when it has the recomended 4 litres of oil in it the standard sump is near enough full to the brim. I was hopeing to cut at least 2 inches out of my sump but if I do that then I shall lose about 1.5 litres of capacity or do peeps just put the full amount of oil in and let it go up into the crank case?

It's about 3.5l. I'll be fitting an oil temp gauge soon as possible when it's on the road to keep an eye on this.

Got most of the engine in the crewy saturday between rain showers and I now know how much clearance I have under the sump

Not a lot, well as the pic shows a tad over 5"
I have not checked the scrub line yet, I forgot before I put the crewy back up on the axle stands. I think I will have to shorten the sump at the end of the summer or before if it starts to get a bit bashed about, at the moment I have left the exhaust headers the standard length so they should hit first, a sort of dumb early warning system. If stops raining for a day or so I may get this thing running soon
BTW does a lambda probe have to "sniff" all 4 pots or can you get away with it "sniffing" only 2.

The Lambda adjusts the mixture, so should sniff all four, but might be OK on two. You might be best asking on SubaruVanagon....
