Sliding Door Adjustment?

Post by Hdickins »

The sliding door on my caravelle sometimes 'pops' open a bit (when I go over a bump in the road maybe) - and then it rattles...

Is there a way to adjust the latch mechanism or the striker plate - so it doesn't have this problem???

Thanks!
Howard

I had this with my last van, I adjusted all the brackets and rollers etc, nothing would sort it, then I put it all back to where it was and after that it was fine! It involved much slamming of doors and driving over bumps!

There are adjusting points at top and bottom, try those first, don't adjust it too tight inwards otherwise when it slides open it could chio the paint on the leading edge of the rear side panel, been there, done that.

Excellent. I'll give it a go anyway...
I hadn't really looked at the top & bottom - just the striker plate etc. (Duh!)

Always worth checking the door seal at the lock end, our last van done this and the seal wasn t seating right, pushed it all back in and job done.

What part of the door is catching, the rear edge or the internal door card? often these cards buckle and bulge slightly and so catch and rub the paintwork.
There are adjusting points at the top and bottom rollers, have a play with these, adjusting just slightly each time until it fits.
