Is it still in a vehicle
Can it be heard running
Has it had any repairs/works/replacements done to it
Why is it being taken out out the vehicle
What sort of vehicle does it come from
Mileage
Oil use
Me!
..and here's the twist...I don't exist....

OK, so its a 50/50 chance of being good/bad.
It could be perfect, it could be blowing oil but you might be able to tell quite a bit by listening to it and looking at the exhaust emission.

You pays your money and you takes the risk!

If you can wait for one of known use that would be preferable.

can you fit it inside two months - if so then the warranty is some peace of mind, if you can't then it's all risk..might be a good, might not....if the vehicle's a breaker then it's milage may be a guide to the engine's
