blockage in deisel tank?

Post by S.OSHEA »

Hi,dropped small 5 "inch plastic hose from jerry can into tank, first thought it was blocking tank,as van seemed to die, would,nt rev,
only way to get going was to unscrew plastic screw on bottom of fuel filter(you then heard fuel rushing back into filter)but soon ran out ,once you Reve,d engine .
got under van today, and banged where fuel line came out of tank, van ,now appears to Reve,s no problem, could it be dirt?as filled up with a mix of used vedg oil(supposed strained)+red derv, ideas, steve.o

Sounds like your problem is primarily caused by putting shyte (and not very legal shyte at that) in your tank.

It could also be that your breathers are blocked and this is causing a vacuum in the fuel system, leading to starvation.

I think it was probably the cheapness of the fuel and the lack of duty on the red that made you do it, ya tight git.

Where do you get your derv from ? I expect that is where the contamination is, is it of a forecourt or do you help yourself from a tank some where ? or is it from a chap in a pub. If thats the case you might just be getting heating oil!
Don't worry you will still be avoiding the duty liable, but it will scrap your pump, injector's ect. ect. as it wont lubricate the way derv does.
If I was you I would tell the voices to shut up and get your self to a petrol station.
It's nothing a great deal of time and money can't fix
