Tappets !!!!

Post by T'Onion »

Ok i have had enough of this
I have a least one frelled tappet in me engine .. sooooo...

Can I remove one or two of the tappets in my 1.9dg, with the engine in situ and without removing the head?
I know i'd have to remove the push-rod tube's etc
i.e can i pull them out either with a magnet or a sucker

answer's ,tip's,offers of coming to sheepfield and helping/doing this for me on a postcard to ....

You can remove them but...
It means killing your pushrod tube to remove the follower and then using an expanding pushrod tube from GSF etc...

Check your tappet adjuster screws while you have the rocker shafts off, they are usually worn and need replacing.

Not trying u to teach u to suck eggs, but keep the pushrods matched to the followers and adjusters (bit of cardboard with holes, number as per cyl and inlet or exhaust).

expanding pushrods -WARNING

Post by ermie571 »

Hi folks
I tied to get hold of some of these expanding pushrods, as the seals have gone on our 1.9dg.

despite being listed on GSf and Just campers, and other suppliers, I was constantly told they were not available. Result? Pushrods still leaking!
Sorry to be a killjoy...

On the other had, if you find some, could you let me know!! :D
cheers
Emma
