well,just a thought if you can find a good golf /passat etc engine i can sell you everything needed to convert 200£ thats a running (on 3 cyls) deisel 1700 engine and 4 speed box, mounts/wires,pipes etc.

if you have a 5 speed then you will only need to changeg the bell housing on the box,and sometimes the input shaft,about a 30 minute job.
i could use your bell housing so if we swap yours and mine then you can have the engine and parts for £100.
yes pretty much any 4 cylinder will do, check the forums in this section.
