Gas Fridge Problems....

Post by carl666 »

I have just put my fridge back in after fitting some new cupboards and when I fire it up it runs for anything from 2-10mins and then goes out.
I sat and watched it and it's as if it runs out of gas the flame shorten's flickers then goes out....it will relight straight away afterwards.

And before anyone ask's No I haven't run out of gas have half a bottle. :D

Any idea's???? this is my first camper and we were going to pop away for a few day's next week as she is nearly all back together (just need to refit the water tank and hang the curtains)
No love I've not bought any more c**p off e-bay!!

OK well I would suspect whats been disturbed.
Does the flame go out if say the burner is lit?..(regulator)
Does the flame stay lit if the ignition is pressed in as the flame falters?...(safety shut off) (know what I mean?)

Take the fridge back out, remove the "T" piece at the top of the exhaust & the swirl piece if fitted, then drop a lenght of cable down the exhaust to clear any obstructions (cobwebs!!!!) refit fridge and try again

Kev if the flame is just about to go out and you compress the knob(the one with 1,2,3 etc)the flame builds up again.
I think it's some sort of gas shortage but I don't know whats restricting the gas flow??
I'm going to rip it out again and as headley said try clearing it out and see where we go from there.....

Thinking about it I haven't run the fridge and the stove together.....I think I will try that to see if the gas starvation is at the bottle end.

Thanks for the idea's guy's :D

OK well thats a suspect valve or a thermo wire (I think it's called that) Headley has a point I'd take it out and clean it all up

When you push the Knob in (oo..er) you are bypassing the safety shutoff

I lit both the fridge and the hob last night and the both ran no prob's?????
I'm hoping it was muck in the gas line and it's moved or burnt off.
Thanks anyway.

Good news...
Oh and here's a tip freeze a 2L bottle of water and put it in the fridge for the journey...... saves on alternator power and nice cold tinnies when you arrive!
