I too am experiencing a switching to petrol problem...and I fill up the bowl.. in the middle position..then wait for the engine to falter telling me that it's full and running on gas and petrol..then switch to petrol only..but soon after it runs out.
I'm assuming a problem with petrol delivery to the carb?
maybe a gummed up or contaminated carb.
naughty kev hasn't been flushing the petrol through regularly I've just been all giddy on gas
i hadnt run mine on petrol for years ( yes years) but i switched it over this very day, at about 70 just in case it didnt want to play, and it was seamless, which isnt bad considering the petrol in there is , erm, well, shall we say not as new as it could be.......( i think it ws about 66ppl when i last bought some) and it switched back ok too, but then i did clean my petrol solenoid last week when i reinstalled the pipe and pump that i lent someone last year..., i know last time i tried to run on petrol it wouldnt because the petrol solenoid was stuck in the "no petrol" position........
so you should switch over at least once a month imho.....
thanks for that, will have a look at them things, and give steve a ring if theres a problem
have been switching over every month up until last month, although it burns to feel the £s going!
Steve at gasure did my conversion a couple of years ago and this was the first bit of trouble since - it was i think just loose connections, cleaned them all up and hey presto it worked! lovely.
So chuffed was I that I thought I'd change the oil.........
unfortunately i kinked the rubber on the oil filter..............
2 miles down the road ... yes you guessed it, I seized the engine. the engine i bought from heritage in January. January 2006!
anyone want to buy a T25 with LPG but no engine????
seriously though I have had enough of the beast and any offers for what was a nice running works van will be considered.
I'm based in Gloucester, it's just the thick rubber ring that the oil filter comes with - when i looked under the engine a bit of it was sticking out between the filter and the block - basically not seated properly and then just let all the new oil pump out
it's a 1.9 DG. do you think the heads would be cracked?
When I took it to MSC in Barrow-In-Furness (HIGHLY HIGHLY recommended garage in North West, they're great) they found a few 'wierdnesses' with the LPG:
Missing grub-screws from the mixer threads so it just lifted away - contacting gasure to request replacement screws to screw down as resting in place is a bit of a suprise.
And 'untidy' joins to solenoids which were just twisted wires and 'leccy tape (not soldered)
Normal?
Cause of probs?
Who knows - a loose wire by switch is probable cause and all seems in order.
I hope you are not casting aspertions Mr. Wright, that van has been "messed" with and its warranty was voided by its previous owner 2 weeks into the owenrship.
We fit to Cop 11 regulations, with approved proper connections at solenoids and soldered wires, so ask away for your parts, and ask, and ask.

Hi Steve, thanks for the info - hope tha smiley doesn't mean 'livid'...
Was VERY suprised to hear these things as I have the installation certificate from you guys and from all accounts you guys are the dons of VW LPG conversion but as this thread had picked up thought I should post facts as they came to light.
Thanks for extra detail (anything else I should know about my van? ou guys on the forums seem to know it pretty well!!! :7)
Anyway, I'm not casting aspersions just reporting facts. (COuldn't think of a wose place to coast an aspersion were i to try!)
SO - how can I get the warranty valid again would prob be best place to start!
so to pick up an oldish post...
im going to try to flick back over to petrol this weeked (last time i itried it wouldnt engage- even when i flicked it to neutral position and waited to splutter)
if petrol does not engage (like it hasnt been doing) will it be wiring/carb/fuel pump?
thanks

found the problem...simply water in the tank and carb, cleaned, ok now
Took it in to gasure on the weekend an got it all fixed up by steve - thanks, anda good price too (tip for anyone else going - make sure you have gas in the tank though!!! My new computer/display is hopefully more sensitive so I won't repeat though)
New computer + adjustment + sorting the wiring was v. good.
Only issues: crazy popping (following th spark plug thread and hope tat will sort that out)
LPG cut out once (never done before), admittedly near stalling point using the gears to slow down a step lake district 12.5% hill...
V. impressed with work, going to monitor efficiency and swap plugs then hopefully all sorted and good now
