2ltr cu fuel pump repair kit question

Post by camper »

Can any one tell me if there i a repair kit for the 2ltr cu fuel pump or do i have to buy a complete pump.I am suspecting the diaphram is leaking oil out of the pump casing. It is still pumping petrol but there is this oil leak coming off it .I have checked the bakerlite pedestal and replaced gaskets but still its leaking

Ahh, but did you check your breather pipe?

If the diaphragm is holed, then it will not deliver any fuel, it'll be just sucking and blowing?

It would be easier to change the pump as a unit.

This is the same post as some days ago if I'm not mistaken?

Tex yes its the same post as a few days ago. This oil leak is a bit of a mystery to me.The pump has a covering of oil which appears to drip of its bottom bolt.As i discribed in my previous post i examined the bakerlite pedestal it has no cracks.I changed the gaskets and used gasket compound .How does the breather pipe affect an oil leak ?do you mean it could be blocked" ie back pressure".I may replace the pump and bakerlite pedestal new .I did wonder if there is a crack in the casing due to hydrolic pressure in the bolt holes as they where bunged up before i cleaned them out.Any help appreciated

When I say breather pipe I mean the original one from the fuel pump body (below the diapragm) to the engine cooling tinware.

Is it still there?

And is it still unclogged?

If I were any good at posting pics. I'd show you what I mean.
