starter motor support bush

Post by sendiw »

Has anyone ever had to replace the support bush for the starter motor. The one on the engine side that is, just beyond the flywheel.
If so what sort of a job is it? I think I may need a new one soon.

Have done this on the Aircooled. Once we knew what we were doing, was done in a morning.

I've asked this a few times without answer.....
Is the bush different for Autoboxes?

Mine seems OK at the moment but I'm sure it will crackup at the most awkward moment.

the bush is needs to be primed with oil, you can either soak it or, put your thumb on one end, fill with oil put your finger on the other and squeeeeeeeze, youll see the oil seeping out of the sides.

dont use grease
