Hi - just bought two second hand, and whilst not perfect, they are many times better than what I have.
What I would like to know is whether I can "paint" the exchangers in anything to protect them, slow down rust etc? Have seen very high temperature paint in halfwits - can this be used?
I know I can paint all the tinware - is hammerite ok, or does it have to be something special?
thanks in advance
Emma

Hi Emma, I think you should be ok using a (very) high temperature
paint on the heat exchangers but I don't think that Hammerite would be suitable.
A mate of mine is painting his sporty/twin tail piped silencer on his a/c
T25 with high temperature paint. Also,I don't think that the heat exchangers get as hot as the silencer, at least not unless you're on a long (relatively) high speed run.

I used the spray VHT paint on my new exhaust a little while ago. It lasted about 5 minutes, you'd not even know I used it now. It may be that you need to build up several coats to get it to last any reasonable length of time or I mis-applied it.
I've ordered a pot of this brush-on 'manifold paint' (the POR stands for 'Paint Over Rust') and I'll give that a go. I'll let you know how I get on, but as you know, my engine doesn't produce much heat at the moment

Go here: http://www.holden.co.uk/ and search for product number 096.860
Mike.

Hi Emma, I've just 'phoned my mate who is painting his a/c T25
silencer. The paint he's using is made by VHT & is available from a company called Frosts in Rochdale. Apparently there is a range of 3
high temperature paints. They are probably on the internet & they sell all sorts of speciality paints & rust treatments. They will send you a catalogue if you 'phone them. Sorry, I can't find the old catalogue I
was given, so I havn't got their number.
