Both the vans I drive just have the standard 'tiny mud flaps' in front which were fitted to all non-Tristar 14" Syncro's with 6" rims. They are very expensive from VW (if still available), and someone (dunno who) was talking about having some copies made. The part numbers are 251 821 809 A (L) and 810 A (R), and they are 36.50 each plus VAT.

The other option is a full-size front mudflap, which seems to have come in more than one variant, one was rubber with a metal frame normally seen on Syncros, this has been discontinued and replaced at some point by part numbers 251 821 809 (L) and 810 (R). These parts *may* be the plastic ones you see more commonly on 2wd vans.

I must say that flaps are a mixed blessing, whilst keeping some cr*p off the van, they do have a tendency to get snagged on the scenery and get damaged or ripped off, with consequent minor body damage. I'm really not sure they're worth adding if not already fitted.

The little epaulettes.......my van has one remaining in situ, one in the garden, one under the dining table, and one in a bag under the R&R bed.....

It's true - they get ripped off by scenery......
