I purchased a new top balljoint (from GSF)for the van and whilst fitting it noticed this.

this can't be right?, the original one lines up perfect. I cant even get the bolt in?
any ideas....

It can't be a genuine VW part...can it?
Send it back and/or take your old one in as a pattern.
The're not handed by any chance? never done one.

No it's not a VW part they want £50.00 for one.
Apparently they are the same from 79-91 , took it back to GSF and ordered one from JK. fingers crossed.

If it wasn't properly seated in the 'ole then it might well look like it wouldn't fit.
I've done loads of these and some of them do start looking like they won't fit, but when they're properly seated they normally fit just fine.

Not this one sadly, It seated in the hole perfect but the bolt holes were way out. Ordered a new one from JK's and it fits like a glove.
