Advice on re-filling cooling system

Post by Kit Bones »

I'm in the process of re-filling my system: un-done one of the main hoses low down, stuck a hosepipe in and flushed all the old coolant out (hopefully leaving 6 litres of water in the system), put the hose back on and started to fill it back up with neat coolant into the main tank.

So far I can only get 3 litres in... what am I doing wrong?

sounds like an air blockage or something else blocking the system.

One little thing I try it to give the large pipes a squeeze, to mimick a pump like action - this sometimes helps push air to the water bottle and lowers the water/coolant level. try that first

Have you undone the radiator screw to let the air out that end?
