Fuel Additives

Post by Bowton Lad »

It's MOT time on Tuesday & because my van is burning a bit of oil I thought about putting a fuel additive such as Redex in the tank & then giving the van a good blast down the motorway for a few miles to clear
out any deposits etc from the engine.
I know it doesn't solve the problem of the engine burning oil but it may
buy me some time by getting the van through the emmisions test.
Does anyone else use/recommend any fuel additive or is there a case against them being used?
Although my van is a 1980 it has a 1988 a/c unleaded petrol cv engine.
Any advice anyone? - Thanks. :?: :D

drain the oil out for the MOT (joking!) there are a few tricks I think change the plugs, air filter for starters, make sure your timing is "cock" on. I have a timing stobe you can borrow if you want to give it a go. dont think the additives will halp, just give the engine something else to burn!
