My van keys are worn and it's a work of a couple of hours to get the locks to open (if at all!).
Can I get replacement keys from the lock number, as a copy of a crap key is only going to give me a crap key!

You can get keys cut from the key number by any decent locksmith, or if you go to a decent VW dealer with your V5 they can obtain the original key numbers for you. Although two dealers told me it wasn't possible, when I asked the third they produced a standard VW form which they faxed to VW and it was faxed back about an hour later.

I took the barrel out of the tail gate lock, there was a 'lug' on that with a four digit number stamped on it. That seemed to do the trick. As that lock used the same key as the driver door and the passenger door all was tickity boo. (I think the sliding door must have been replaced at some point, so don't know about that lock yet.)
