I have not understand your question Andrew but, I think you know if you use the winch too many times with no pulleys to help the winch work better (but slower) it will get hot... that is the reason Warn has installed grilles over the motor...

First awnser is to Andrew.I have a slightly higher motorway temp than i would like but this is not just because the winch is in this position.The original chassi behind the bumper also blocks a bit of flow.(now being higher)This will in the near future be adressed.The reason i put the winch so close is not to cancell out all the work done to improve the aproach angle.It dosnt however affect town driving or offroading at all.

Secont awnser to Macflai.Yes some of warn winches do have cooling fins on the motors but not all.I have a 9000i on my 16 wich is much younger than Andrews but dosnt have the cooling fins.
