Pulling to the left

Post by ermie571 »

Scooby has found something else to do...she pulls to the left. On the run home it was very noticeable, so off to get the tracking done.

Tracking way out - and reset. Promises to re-adjust if checked within a couple of weeks, as the amount of adjustment was considerable. Still pulling, although not as bad. So, off to the air machine to make sure tyre pressures OK. Small adjustment, nothing major.

So what to check next?? Would like to make sure there is nowt else before I take her back to recheck alignment. Have had binding brakes suggested, but how would I know - and how do I check? :?:

all advice, pointers welcome.
thanks in advance
Emma

Binding brakes would cause one side to be much hotter than the other after a run. Before they adjusted tracking did they check suspension bushes and joints for play? (most places don't). Get the camber checked and adjusted if required this is a common cause of pulling, tracking will need doing again after. Internal tyre defects can also cause pulling if the above don't sort the pulling try swapping wheels front to rear.

agreed

If it's been pulling for a while then the tyres are unevenly worn. try putting the rears on the front.

If it still pulls then a camber, castor check.

Thanks for the advice...

not pulling as badly now - what is a camber check? If I ask the same place that did the alignment, will they know what to do or is it a specialised job?

Not been pulling long, and tracking has eliminated much of it.

cheers again

Can the camber be adjusted (other than changing the suspension ride height)?

High Q will do a check and tell you if it's straight or not..(camber) if it's not they may suggest whats caused it, and I presume castor can be adjusted?

Caster can from the front radius rod I think... though 'tis sometimes used crudely to adhust wheel position fore-aft in the wheel arch !

The big bolt with eccentric washers that holds on the upper arm is the camber adjustment.

Have a high Q locally, so its off to them next week if another tracking check doesn't improve matters.

thanks to all for the assistance!
