auxillary tanks

auxillary tanks

does anyone know whether its strictly nessacary to keep the auxillary petrol tanks or can they be discarded? getting gas soon and cant see point of keeping them to be honest, any views greatly appreciated as always, cheers

keep your petrol tanks: you'll regret it if you are running low and can't find a LPG station locally

Those under the arches are not aux tanks but part of the breather system and essential afaik

Part of VWs carefully designed fuel tank system for the van. You can't really get rid unless you are going to design and install a new fuel system taking into consideration similar design criteria i.e safety, filling, fuel starvation in low level conditions, etc. Just taking them out would be a lashup and might have unpredictable results just when you need it most (no LPG left, miles from civilisation!!).
