Post by SteveO »

Hi,it may be a co incidence ,but for past mth been useing mixture oil/derv,First my desiel pump on my t25 started leaking from a gasket on pump, next wife pug 205 desiel has started to leak on engine"not found out where from yet?do anyone think the mix of oil/derv can some how affect gaskets?anyone else had same problem?cheers steve.o
just an after thought, with oil being thicker than desiel would their be added presure internally on seal/gaskets?,especially if running more than a 50/50 mix?but some of you guy,s said you not had any problems running on full oil?would a pre/heater or parrafin/white spirit addertive?be the answer thoughts please, steve.o

veg oil is more acidic so it will eat through fuel pipes and ruppers seals quicker than diesel. I think if the diesel is pre heated it help reduce the effect - BUT don't take that as gospel, I'm still learning

I've heard that gaskets and seals on older vehicles can be perished quickly as they are viton rubber AIRC.

Newer ones shouldn't suffer the same prob. I've also heard that bosch pumps are the only ones that really can handle the extra pressure, but that might just have been for 100 percent oil.

Customs and excise were dipping all cars parked at a local auction the other night too...
