1981 2ltr Devon mustard paint code ? or what color needed

Post by camper »

I have a 1981 2ltr aircool devon which is painted in two tone.Roof and down to around the windows is a creamy off white.Lower body is a mustard color .I would like to find a paint code or identify if the paint is known .I noticed that this is not the vehicle original color as it is yellow in areas behind the body.I have looked on the internet to see if i can identify the colors no luck .I seemed to recall that british leyland painted an allegro and a morris marina way back in the 70s a horrible mustard.I carnt find a paint code on vehicle and i dont think its a vw color .I would like to get a match and obtain a few litres to spray up a few areas .Any help or ideas appreciated.

I would still suggest go to a spray shop. tell them the paint code and colour, and take the van, see if they can get it mixed to match your van, the brand new colour will be un-sunbleached!
When I tried to get one to match my previous van Halfords gave me 3 choices of the same colour, new, bleached and very bleached! I ordered the middle one and although it was close it wasn't right, and it was non-returnable!

I have just T-cut my VERY sunbleached blue bus (hard work but worth it),and had some paint made up by halfords.
Gave me the same option original or light(sunbleached),I went for the original and after the T-cut you can't see the difference betweeen the original paint and my touch up's,perfect match.
I may have been lucky but I was well impressed as I have had other motors where the so called factory paint touch up's have been miles out.
No love I've not bought any more c**p off e-bay!!

Well done carl, its difficult to get a really good match. You T-cut the whole thing? That is brave, did mine once, took hours!
