Any specific oil??

Post by carl666 »

I drove my T25 home 40 miles after buying it and it has stood for about 2 months (being started now and then for short periods), I took a look at the oil level today and it is below the min level and there was NO water in the header tank!!
She ran OK when I drove her home and the temp didn't get high so I think I've been lucky.
My question is I know about the VW coolent that need's to be used but don't know what oil to use? Is there a tried and tested brand and what thickness etc? Thanks in advance...
Carl.
No love I've not bought any more c**p off e-bay!!

Is it for a petrol? I have been told to use the red can from Halfords, a good plain mineral oil.

Just to add-tis best to avoid synthetic or semi synth oils in these engines as it can cause the hydraulic tappets to rattle--jus stick with basic mineral oil as mentioned above-change every 6 mnths--Filters--tis best to use only Manns (from GSF) or genuine VW--

A word of caution! If you use duckhams, only ever top up with duckhams :? It does not mix well with other makes.
