REAR WISHBONE BUSHES
Just had anightmare of a day trying to get the rear wishbone off to do some welding on it. The tube through the bush welded itself to the bolt on the outer bush and i ended up sawing through both sides of the bolt by hand.
Now i need a new bush or bushes,
who does them and how easy are they to press in.

Rear wishbone bushes
Just campers sell them at £6.99 each. There manual says you need special tools to fit them. A local engineering firm with a press may be able press them in for you. Regards Mog

You need a thread bar, grease and some tubing of the right diameter.

I haven't done this job and think very few have.
The VW tools to remove and insert the bushing are basically a length of threaded studding (or very long bolt) and nuts - suggest M12 about the right size.
Together with a spacer tube at least the length of the bushing, and some step-down sleeves (or very thick large penny washers). Lubricate bushing and housing with soap solution (rubber-grease or brake fluid?). Grease the studding and nuts well.
Not sure whether new one is pulled in on its sleeve diameter or by a shaped pad, but it says when sleeve reaches tool, leave it for 30 secs for the bush to finally settle in place.

I don't want to get them done and end up with 99 spare kits!
which you probably will, unless they are shown to make a big difference to handling, particularly with big wide sticky wheels and tyres - the performance market.
