hmmmm
i have a t3, i'd like power steering for it, but i'd like to do it without needing to rob a bank
i got under a t4 today and had a quick look at the power rack on that, has anyone else out there had thought's of modifying a t4 power rack to fit a t3, there must be plenty more of them around making them cheaper ?
then there's the matter of the pump, european golfs in the '90's had electric power steering pumps, for when they had emission saving systems that shut off the motor when the car is stationary in traffic, so that the power steering would still work, so there's electric pumps out there also
am i alone in these thought's
has anyone else tried modding power steering from another vehicle

My view is that adding power steering to a T3 used on the road by an able-bodied driver would be a total waste of effort. The loading on the front wheels is relatively low, even on a Syncro.
Having said that, in very heavy conditions, or where extreme maneuvers (sp?) are involved where time is a factor (eg. when off-road trialling in a Syncro) I think power steering would be damn useful. If money were no object I'd be tempted to buy a kit from a T3 breaker and fit it.

just sold the rack tonight, still got the pump F/S
I've not came across an other rack that will fit a t25

I've got power steering on the Syncro Andy - just ask and you can have a go.....
tbh it isn't that much use unless you've a particular reason for it. When I dislocated my left arm it was far easier to steer the Syncro with the power steering, but the handbrake/gearstick were harder than the camper, so no advantage.....reckon even now off-road I'd feel the pain much more without power steering, but it isn't THAT much of an asset to me.....

they can't be as pricey as t3 racks, can they ??
case people havn't noticed, i'm trying to do the job on the cheap
