I've taken my engine to bits thinking it was the head gasket that had gone but it looks like it hasn't, or if it had it was the main cause of water/oil mixing.
I've followed the advice of a couple of mechanics and left the engine instead of dropping it. On www.benplace.com it states that removing the cylinder liner is not a good idea when the engine is in due to the complexity of getting it back in. I think that water has been getting in due to a faulty base seal liner which needs to be replaced.
My question is how problematic is it? Anyone had any experience? I know you need a special tool to put them back in?
Cheers
