The heating stays on continuosly. I have checked the cables and levers right down to the actual heater unit and they all work but the heating stays on. I can only assume that the internal flap? within the heater unit is not adjusting.
Anybody got any ideas re this?

Heating problem in watercooled 1.9
Yes the lever does move on the unit but as you say it seems as if internally nothing is changing or moving. Not sure if that unit can be dismantled. I was thinking of maybe adding a valve on the hot water supply in order to manually stop the flow of hot water through the heater gadget.

There was a thread about this a week or two ago. Consensus seemed to be that watercooled T25's will either A) have really lousy heating that doesnt heat up the van or B) have heating thats always at least warm whether you want it to or not!
Mine does the latter - Ive replaced the valve thingy, checked the cable functions properly, and still there's a warm draught at all times.
On the plus side, you can always open a window, and it works as a wonderful early warning system if you're coolant has just sprung a leak!

Thanks for the info. What do you think about adding in a manual valve to stop the flow of water through the heater unit?

Got a new van, but it's a 165bhp T4 [shock horror] Accurate LPG Station map here
the valve under the bus (roughly to the left of your feet) has i groove init so you can never stop the flow of coolant only slow it down! i think the idea is the fan cools the matrix down thus getting cooler air just a thought
everytime you masterbate god kills a kitten! member 1289 does this still mean owt?
