Autosleeper

Post by Woodsey »

We have had Clarise, our 20 year old Autosleeper conversion for 3 years now and the layout and quality of the build are excellent. Suits two adults and one 11 yr old down to the ground.

Celebrating passing MOT today with no work needing to be done...which means once we get new curtains we're ready to roll for 2006 !

Well done Paul, that bit of paper always brings out a grin factor when you've got it.

Best laugh the swear filter has given for a while, must admit I was thinking of checking my van incase it had a cabinet somewhere I hadn't found but then realised I'm just not posh enough, it's the drinks cabinet to me :)

I've got a Komet - Big Bed, enough cupboards to hide refugees in and only slightly dodgey upholstery!!!

We have an Autohomes Kamper (with Kestrel hightop roof fitted) and it's great - loadsa room, good cupboard space, decent level of trim (originally I suppose) and the bed is great despite the material now showing its age and the style looks like something from your grans living room.

Used every other day and leaves car-owners sitting beside the road in the Stoke on Trent snow. Failing that, how many other vehicles, when stranded, can put a brew on?

I have an Autohomes Kamper, just sold my bay and what a difference, decent trim level, a decent size bed that doesn't take a week to set up and an upstairs section too. my interior has had a hard time though and needs some TLC, the sliding cupboard door on the right is missing, the seat covers are shredded, the laminate is coming off especially on the fridge, oh and the exhaust is completely shot, but we love it :D

Autohome Kamper Conversion

Post by Opium »

Just bought my first camper, and think the Kamper conversion great. Will let you know how it performs once I actually take the twins out in it!

Obviously the roof doesn't work, needs new gas struts, but once that's sorted!
Oh, and need to replace the lap belts for 3 point belts, but once that's sorted!
Oh, and the panel repairs, welding and paintjob obviously need some work, but once that's sorted!
Oh, and the breaks are a bit spongy/grinding, but once that's sorted!
Mmm, could do with power steering, but once I've got some upper arm strenght that will be sorted!

And she WILL be super, despite what my neighbours think. :D

It's a good conversion (we have Kamper downstairs, Kestrel upstairs) - just beware draughty corners in the push-up sleepy area - give the occupants aches in the morning and any rain around will most definately find its way in!

One benefit of the foldup sides is you can open the roof in summer, push the lower sections up, leave the top fastened and have superb air-con - also nice place to take an afternoon nap - I speak from experience. :)

Look forward to the dryier weather, just went out in her with the children, and the rain was torrential while we had lunch. You should have heard the children laugh with glee when the accumulated water cascaded into the van, changing direction and velocity depending on how well I cornered/accelarated or breaked.

Now I find the waterbottle for the screen wash will only fill up half way due to a leak, but that can wait, I'm a half full kind of person rather than a half empty

Mind you, she looks pretty fetching in her new blue tarpauline parked on the drive!
