Judging by SyncroPaddy's pictures his 2.1DJ didn't seem to have any problems wading in water up to the screen, dunno where the pic is, but it's top notch.

One time I was wading a flooded road across the bottom of a river valley, keeping speed up to avoid flooding the engine, and at a point were the water deepend slightly I distinctly felt a lightness in the steering as the front wheels started to lose grip.. So apart from general water ingress, losing control due to the vehicle floating may also be a limiting factor.

Dang, have a distinct aversion to those, but did just use two today too.. an allotment shed floor, after emptying years of stuff, cleaning everything due full of rat /mouse droppings - couldn't stand the smell and state of it any longer. Of course, it hailed whilst everythng was out, naturally! Blinking things had eaten big holes in the chipboard floor, camped up in a million bits of plastic bag, and eaten a fine pumpkin, as well as some tatties - what a stink!
an then just got frozzed fingers replacing the oil filler pipe on Doka, belt cut right through the old one, requiring much cable tieing and Duct taping half way back last Sunday - what an oily mess that made too, the undertray was 1" thick in oiled Stourportclay and mud - Freezing rain finally drove me inside in agony- Nice day all-round!
So I've done my round tuits for the weekend, keep yours for when you need 'em - Thanks for the thought though!

Yes, I'd wacked it a while ago at the very bottom without the rear engine pan on; tied it up pretty well with big zippers, but on the way home I think I was cornering a bit exuberantly, or it had been shaken up badly at Coney - and it moved across to the belt which cut a nice Vee right through both outer and inner filler telescopics... Bingo, a problem all of a sudden! Including no alternator output due so much oil flying about.. ayway, CJ sent one up next day and I hope I'm away again although I am still looking for a JX Syncro sump at a decent price, or even another 2WD JX style sump, as I'm not 100% confident of the oil drain plug fitting. I loctited it in when I got it, but with another sump I could bore and tap a drain at the front, this one requires dropping the underrun pan. Always like to work on a spare!
