eber
poss me being thick and stuff but can you run a eber heating unit in an air cooled van.
i mean i think im right they are a derv heater, do they have their own fuel supply.
its been a long day...
lol
reason im asking is ive been offered a nice air cooled wedgy fairly cheap, but the only thing that is holding me back is the heat exchangers. if they go they are major money to relplace, so if that happened i would just run j tubes like a beetle, unless that aint possible. then i could have a 4 tip monza exhaust on the back rather than the way expensive std unit.
so j tubes = no heat = cold cab. brrrrrrrrr
or is there any other ways of keepin snuggly.

Its still not a prcatical solution, as you are paying for the fuel to run the heater when you could have it for free. at .27 litres an hour it will not take very long until you couild have paid for your exchangers. It may be a quick fix solution until you sorce the parts you neeed cheaply though.

Don't think that's correct lhd (about them shutting off)....in my experience once the eber is going it keeps going (indefinitely) even if battery becomes low....but it won't restart with the low battery. However the eber can always be restarted by starting the engine till the heat kicks in....

On mine when the battery became too low the fan would only come on at low speed setting, the pump would not start so no heat was produced. As soon as the battery was replaced the fan started on low speed then high speed, the pump would start working thus providing heat. I could get it started by starting the van but as soon as I switched it off, it would not re-ignite.
this is what happened to mine. Maybe it depends on how flat your battery is, mine was as dead as a dodo..........

In which case I think you're right !! And perhaps my battery has never got that low....
On mine when the battery is low I can run the engine until the fan speeds up and the heat starts... then it keeps going....when it kicks in the van gets VERY hot quite quickly, so perhaps I've never run it long enough for what you're describing to happen..
So all seems to hinge on how low the battery is as you say ...
