Oil's coming from somewhere

Post by KurzalFlyer »

Well all packed up and ready to go on the first weekend of the year. Dog dutifully snoozing on rear seat.

Three miles down the road and oil warning light starts flashing, OK maybe needs a top up, stopped at garage to get some oil. On returning to bus noticed small pool of oil on the floor. Hmm top up's probably not in order for 300 mile round trip so back home.

So..........
Oil warning light flashing, sometimes but not always
Engine temp guage right in the middle
Oil only leaking when engine running

Any thoughts? Serious job/expense? DIY or leave to the professionals?

This is what it looks like;

No oil on top of engine, so coming from somewhere under the plate.

Any thoughts welcome.
