I've currently got a 4speed box and I've purchased a decent 2nd hand 5speed because I think my 4sp is on its way out.
Do I need a different linkage for the 5sp? Its for a diesel.
Does anything else need to be changed too?

I have just had my half dead 4 speed swithced over to a 5speed.
I didn't know the linkage needed to be changed, tha garage bodged it make it work.Getting second is hell. I am now waiting for a 5 speed linkage to arrive from Sweden.
Yes you do need the 5 speed linkage. If you think it will go faster it won't, you will just need to change gear moor often. 5th is the same as your old 4th.
Unless you have a petrol gearbox. If so a 1.6D won't have enough power to be of any use. If you have a bigger engine I don't know.
I don't know much about it, I was enlightened by another member.
Good luck, personally I wish I hadn't bothered changing to a 5 speed box.
