EUROPEAN VANS - HOOK UP

Post by Bowton Lad »

I don't know about the actual vans but given the fact that we in the UK
reduced our electricity from 240v down to 230v to be inline with the rest of the EU (alright France & Germany) then I would suggest that you would be ok to change the plugs on the hook-up lead. You should also be able to
fit those horrible 2 pin plugs on your electrical appliances.
You really need to speak to a proper electrickery person. :D

220/230v I just use the plug in adaptors that turn the interior two pin to the UK 3 pin. Did the same with me old 77 Westy as well. No problems.

I tried to connect a 2 pin to 3 pin travel plug to the existing euro outlet but it wouldn't fit seems the 2 pins are too far up the outlet.

Do i need a different connector?

I've got a 83 Westy german import and the hook up runs fine. I've also just plugged in the usual 2 pin travel adaptor into the plug socket with no issues.

The only problem I had was the trip, it kept tripping after about 5-6 hoursd use. Had that changed and no problems now.............touch wood

I just use the simple basic adaptor, it sits flush with the euro socket when plugged in costs about 99p

westy do a socket to replace the euro one with a uk one! torz got one a df! as for the wires, they will be fine. you may have problems with a zig tyoe unit if you use it at the wrong volatge! have a gander at it it will say it's voltage range! this will tell you if it's ok!!
