4x4 road tax

Post by Ray »

I see in one newspaper today that there is speculation that the budget will increase 4x4 road tax to £200. I wonder if syncro's would included bearing in mind the v5 just says motor caravan? I guess the chelsea tractors owners wont care anyway!

I think we'll avoid it Ray for exactly that reason - no-where on my documentation does it reflect that mines a Syncro...

fingers crossed!
You only need two tools in life - WD-40 and Duct Tape; If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40. If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.

Heard this this morning and have been reading up on the 'net. Seems to be CO2 emision based over 185g/KM to £200 has been rumoured so aimed at bigger engines not necessarilly 4x4, although they do tend to go hand in hand, seems like theres a lot of pre-budget hype and speculation as always. Of course rather than giving tax breaks for cleaner vehicles (ie LPG)which would have far more impact, whats the bets they go for a disincentive instead. (oh oh Political thread warning!)

As with the current tax banding, it will prob apply to those already classified, so thats only newer vehicles not old ones..

this has been knocking about for a while, and sorry even on a Landie V5 it doesnt say 4WD....if it is a blancket tax on 4WD it will include syncros.

To be honest they will find it very difficult to tax in relation to drive configaration, so they will do it on emmisions.......I am very surprised you guys havent suffered the wrath of GreenPiss along with the rest of the 4X4 community

Anyone wishing to protest against the governments proposal to tax 4x4 vehicles can do so here.
http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/4x4bashing/ .
Theres also a petition asking for the date for classic car tax exemption
to be brought forward
http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/historiccartax/
Don't suppose it'll make a blind bit of difference but it's worth a try!!
