I have a 1.7 Diesel that when its is reved or under load, sounds like 2 skeletons W**king in a biscuit tin!!!!
On tickover the noise goes but comes back when reved........
Has any one got any ideas what it might be please

Mixture f**k all to do with it, it's a Diesel. By nature of a diesel, ie having no choke to limit the amount of air they are throttled by the amount of fuel, they run lean at idle and reach stoichometric at full tilt.
Big ends, mains, dribbling injectors, cam or pump timing.
Would go for more big or main bearings as it does it when revved.

I have had problems with the timing of the pump for a while.....over fueling!!!! The problem started a couple of weeks ago.......but disappeard for a while......then came back and just wont go away.
If it the main end bearings would this mean a new engine? or is it cost effective to do a replacement?

Problem was caused by an injector sticking.........£36 to servise plus £5.75 for a long series 27mm socket.....job done lol
