Skinny fingers.

I did mine without removing anything, 1.7 n/a and Rob did his TD without disasembling. I don't even have skinny fingers!! It was the plug that was furthest from the pump that turned out to be the bitch.

Remove the bus bars and the feed cable ( on the LH plug, seen in direction of drive) unscrew the the glow plug with an open ended or ring spanner (12mm AF The space behind the injection pump is very limited and the injection pipes should be disconnected. Tighten glow plugs to 3.0kgm ( 22ft.ib) do not exceed this value.

Havent a clue whether it works but thats what ive read.
Im not the first and I wont be the last

And get one of those magnetic doobreys that get tiny little lost nuts out of tiny little gaps futher down the engine.

Oh and make sure the engine is NOT hot when you do it.......cos it hurts.

We found this a right pain to do in our last van, if we were to do it again think I would buy a mouse and train it for a few months first!!!

glow plugs

try just swapping the right hand 3 and see what it starts like if it's ok leave no1 if not you will have to struggle with the last one, the plug is easy to get in the hardest bit is getting the busbar nut on

Three are fairly easy to get at, but the one directly under the pump can be a pain. I removed the three easy ones, then slackened the nut on the dificult one and left it attached to the copper bar, then i unscrewed the plug and lifted it out by pulling the bar. Fitting a new one is just the reverse.

If you have a telescopic magnetic then it's dead easy
