Westy Roof Help Please!

Hi, I am in the process of fitting a Westy roof to my van. I got it from Syncronutz, and the guys were really helpful with advice.

It is all fitted now and opening and closing well, (and staying leak free!)

However, its very heavy to lift. Is there a way to give it more lift by adjusting anything, or can it be fitted with gas struts like the O'Connors campers ones?

Also, when I got the roof from Syncronutz, it didn't have the bed hinges. As I get on with the conversion, I now realise they are needed. Does anyone have any, or know where I can get some?

Oh the joys of fitting a Westy roof, good fun or what.

The H bar that you use to put the roof up does have cable in that should make it quite easy to lift.

We find ours not too bad, but we are both 6 feet tall.

Also if you move the base of the H bar either towards the front or the back it will adjust the height roof when up and may have some bearing on ease of pushing the roof up.

Not sure if you can get gas struts or not.

You probably know this but just in case. Make sure you have a window open when lifting the roof, otherwise you get a suction due to the restriction of air, which will make it very difficult to lift.
