Tail gate gas struts and fiamma bike rack???

Hi guys... anyone know if standard vw gas struts will hold up the tailgate with the fiamma bike rack on? I have found a site where you can get the standard size ones (there aren't actually that many different types it seems) but with different weight ratios. Has anyone got any that hold up the bike rack (empty obviously)????

The ones I got from Jokerdub nearly lift me off the floor! I don't think they would have much trouble with an unladen bike rack, I think they are standard ones tho, just very new and good!

Mine holds up sometimes and sometimes not

So answer is no

Some people have fitted a piece of tube so that when you open the back you put it in place and it stops the strut compressing

hi..we have the same bike rack and yes new standard struts hold up the tailgate with rack on..

Just fitted Jokerdub struts, lost & found the circlips again...of course, and launched myself over the top with the power of the little beggers.

Which reminds me...
Must clean the roof of the hi-top this summer!!.
