Exhausts

Hi, going to fit my aaz with the original (to the engine) turbo and would like a stainless exhaust - anybody know of a maker that can do one without the van being present?

JP exhausts, they made mine, enough of us got together too and it made it a bit cheaper.

I'd get your AAZ running with the std. JX exhaust first, then think about the stainless one, unless its totally had it. They seem quite well made and seem to last OK... just wire-brushed mine up and given it a coat of weld-thru zinc paint, that seems to adhere and not burn off straight-away.

I went to JP exhausts last friday about one for mine, they said they had done a couple of diesel exhausts but had lots of problems with them so no longer do them.

The problems are very high stresses, as its heavy and hangs off the turbo with lots of vibration from diesel engine...

Did they make the flange bracket bit that bolts to a large and heavy plate off the engine block - without this, and without it being jigged up accurately to fit it, they do have a habit of breaking... ?

Not really TBH, Shhh! DH's sussed us..

. I was meaning that helluva support bracket off the block with two FO bolts holding the pipe flange steady at the turbo exhaust. Mine had come adrift, but I've heard a lot that break the pipes, or worse, if its not used. Having to rejig those bonded mountings t ensure the big FO bvracket lines up nicely.. keeping fingers crossed,a s soon a sit stops peeing down I'll know if it all goes back toegther again properly

Only thing it'll do is rattle the manifold studs loose over time in my experience - the doka didn't have one on it when it arrived..... that said blowing manifolds aren't exactly rare, are they?

They said the brackets vibrate off the silencer and then it all just hangs on turbo until something breaks.
