Driving along yesterday I got a wiff of burning so pulled over, I went to turn the heater fan off but turned it to full and there was a high pitched squeal and a big puff of smoke came through the vents the the 1 speed setting on the fan would'nt work but 2 and 3 did, so is it time for a new blower and are they availiable from anywhere, and how easy/difficult are they to replace ?

Re: cab smoke
It's not really hard to replace it may just need a good clean and lubrication , Wiki is very good for heater blower replacement and there are a few threads
This one https://club8090.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=37921" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
This one https://club8090.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=44127" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
As I said not hard just time consuming , but added benefits to doing it is to give the area behind dash a good clean and vacum , tidy any loose wires , check for rust from bottom of screen .
good socket set and screw drivers , good set of flat nosed mole grips to take off the sheer nuts from the steering column and all should be good

Re: cab smoke
And don't forget to replace the lost smoke. Unfortunately VW stopped making any T25 smoke after 2003 and GSF has never stocked it but you can get the inferior Lucas smoke here:

Re: cab smoke
Blower motors for t25 are available on ebay, there's a couple of sellers on there with 'em (one is gsf). Brickwerks also sell them.
