Buzzer of doom... please help!

Aaarrgh!
Was setting off to go to Lakes. Been out in van once earlier on, but had to turn round because of snow. It cleared up a bit, so we tried again, only to then get the buzzer of doom!
Oil light flashing and annoying buzzing sound. Had to turn round again... What do I do? It had a service in October and full oil change etc. Hasn't been driven too much since, just enough to keep it ticking over. Oil levels look fine, oil looks clean.... could it just be the sensor with the cold you think? If so, where is it, and where / what do I check?
Any help would be greatly appreciated as If we don't get away in the van this weekend, realistically it'll probably be after we've had the baby in may!

Bugger...... Last thing I needed with a big pregnant belly! Arggh these vans really annoy me at times!!!

at a guess i'd say it was the cold! i'd say go away (ifyou can get out for the snow) if it breaks you've got till after may to fix it!!!

I wouldn't do anything till the oil pressure has been checked.
The last customer of mine who's buzzer of doom came on ended up buying a new engine. The system does sometimes actually work!

Kathy,

Engine spec?

Is this below 2000 rpm, or above, one is low pressure idle type pressure, that will go away when you get above 200o rpm, the other is a higher pressure required above that figure...
It's normally the low press. one, that comes one after a good thrash for a mle or two and comes on when slowing or going round a roundabout - as he cools down a bit often goes away.

Believe it or not, can be caused by too much oil in sump! However, as its veeeeery cold now, good chance its a connection.
One is under the nearside cylinder head on 2.1's and the other is right in amongst the water pump area, straight in front of you as you look at engine from an open cover (the HP one)

Maybe just find and check and wiggle the leads as a first stab at troubleshooting...

Its a 1.9dg. Have no idea how to check pressure. Is it an easy thing to do if i took it down to a local garage? Might try and take it for a little drive before setting off to see if it comes on or not. I suppose if it does, I could just call out the AA maybe....
I have had this problem once or twice before, back when we first got the van, and as far as i know it has always been the connection. Not happened in absolultey ages though!
Aaarrgghh! Might not be goign anywhere if this snow doesn't clear anyway...

check the contacts in the dash, a bit of green scouring pad helps with the contacts on the pod.

Tis very cold outside, true! Think i'm just not destined to get to this site in Keswick! I was supposed to go a few weeks ago, but then it snowed and we couldn't get hookup so put it off till this weekend.
Which contacts in the dash do you mean bob? just generally where you pull the pod off to get to speedo cable and brake fluid etc?

Kathy, sitting in the driving seat, put you hand under the rhs, there you will find a bunch of wires going upwards into a big electric plug, about 1.5" long, 1/2 " wide, this can be pulled downwards, in there you will find a contact strip which sometimes gets gunked up and green or rusty, give that a gentle clean, mine sometimes works a bit loose and my dash lights go out!

if you are going to have a look your self kathy, id take the top off the dash and have a look that way, as cate says you can go in from under the dash but youll be able to see very little.

it is where you open the pod to get to the speedo, but on the right. you may need to unscrew the 4 screw at the corners to lift the whole thing out to give it a proper look, the switches should pop out by pressing the two clips on the side of them or just un plug the wires, disconnect the speedo and the long loom plug at the right hand side and the lot should lift out.

Luckilya clown who owned it before me had snapped all you possibly can so I didn't have to
