3 pin hook up which wire goes where
Hello all,
this is really anoying me as I thought I would be able to find instructions either through google or on here but I cant. So I am wiring my power management system into my hook up (male) plug which is attached to my van, but on the plug there is only a symble to say where the + goes so I have not idea wich is ment for earth and which is ment for neutral. Please Help me, I have so very nearly finished my conversion and this is one of the last jobs!
Cheers,
Jack

Being brutally honest and with no dis-respect.
You sound like you should not be messing around with mains voltage, get someone professional to sort it for you.

no offence taken but I have been 'messing around' with mains voltage a fair bit and no problems so far
, as I can read a wireing diagram. So the question still stands, which of the two remaining pins, the larger diamiter one and the smaller is for Earth and which is for neutral? If I were a gambling man I would say the large is for Earth and the smaller is for neutral but I would rather be told by someone who knows.
Cheers

Here you go.

on that plug looking from behind the large pin is the earth, and is at the bottom. The blue neatral is to the left and brown live to the right.
Once wired up just use a polarity and earth checker in one of the sockets to check all is well. You need one for campsites to check all is well with the hookup.

You can just make out the symbols on the plastic, there are only two, the earth and the live.
Good luck.

Except you've shown a female connector, and he's working on a male connector.
So he'll have a live-neutral reverse, which is far from good.

I can, and you can. But I felt it was worth pointing out.

Hi
as you can find the + terminal, the earth is the large pin and the one you have left is the neutral.

Yep thats what I have done, as I said, if I had to guess i would say the large was earth but I just wanted to double check, given that this is mains voltage and all. but thanks for all your help!

Re: 3 pin hook up which wire goes where
Here it is. On the plug you will see these symbols where the wires go.
L
N
E (or a tree-looking symbol)
L = Live (Brown Wire)
N = Neutral (Blue Wire)
E = Earth (Green/Yellow striped wire)
Just follow that and there you go. If that doesnt make sense to you, call an electrician.

If this is so, and again no offence intended, if you can't work it out, then the first response applies!
the only way to get a correct answer is if you show the plug you are connecting up.
Re: 3 pin hook up which wire goes where
Indeed and be very careful with colours. Black can be live or neutral, as can blue. All depends when it was wired and by whom.
