Attaching Thermawrap?

Staying in the van feels a bit chilli recently! Want to kit out all doors with Thermawrap, lots of little questions that will hopefully be easy to answer if its been done before so here goes:

1) When the door cards are taken off (front doors, sliding door, rear door) is there enough space to cover the inner skin completley or can just certain areas be covered?

2) What is the best way to attach?
Obviously the issue of trapped moisture is there so im thinking to "bond" the Thermawrap to the outer panel. Would Waxoyl sprayed on the outer skin hold the Therawrap do you think? If not contact adhesive? I prefere the bonded method to tape method as there is no space there for moisture to creep/drip in, but i have an open mind to this!

3) Does this job make a massive difference or just a slight difference?

4) Last one! Anyone know the cheapest place to get this from, and is the cheaper generic insulation just as good?

Point 1 - I managed to cover most of the inner skin, though it took a bit of faffing about.
Point 2 - I used a combination of Aersol contact adhesive for the awkward areas and plain old spread it on contact adhesive where I could.
Point 3 - Thermowrap combined with antidrone mats makes a huge difference in the road noise, temperature wise I can not say as I do not winter camp.
Point 4 - Can not help you there, Thermowrap here is not available in Germany, I picked mine up in the UK at BQ (BOGOF).

I still have 3/4 of a roll which you can have if you pick it up!

I'm due to do this on my bus soon, I just need the temp to rise alittle so I can waxoil at the same time.

I plan to use a mixture of spray glue, and siler gaffer tape, I'm sure there are better tapes to use instead of gaffer, but it should do the job.

I bought my roles of thermawrap from B&Q, you best bet is to go onto their website and search first to see which stores stock it, as most of my local stores didn't, but the super store did.

I paid £15 per roll about a month ago, so far I've made some covers for the windows with rupper suction pads, and tend to use the rest to insualte the panels in the rear of the van.

I Can't help you with your other points as I've not done it it, my main concern was I didn't want to use anything that would hold water, so after readin peoples opions on here I decided thermowrap was the best option

one tip is to use dynamat on the actual panels but
thermowrap on the backs of the door cards not the actual panel
rember it needs to breathe behind there or when condensation builds it will say behind there then rust

1) Im glad the inner skin can be fully covered, id thought about your suggestion gti mad man but thought that putting the Thermawrap on the outer skin was the best possible place for it as not only does it cover more surface but I was also kinda hoping the insulation on the outer skin would bounce the heat back and almost create a little heat pocket in between the door skins! Probably hoping for a bit much but you get the idea. Thank for the offer Titus A Duxass but i`ll leave the three quarter of a roll with you as tempting as it is!

2) I think ill do the same as you on this as its hard to "smear" contact adhesive for that airtight close fit to the metal that spreadable glue can offer. do you know which brand you used? A silly question im sure but, the Thermawrap comes with a more reflective side i think? Just to confirm you point this towards the inside of the van? Suppose this would make it very warm in summer?

The glue I used was from Pattex (both the spray on and spread on) but I don't know if you can get it in the UK.
Evilstink should do something familiar.

I never noticed if my thermowrap is more reflective on one side, I don't think it will much of a difference anyway.

15 quid a roll good deal it would seem, my local B&Q taking 35 quid a roll !

I fitted mine with double sided sticky tape.

I havent noticed any difference in the heat - but with all the windows its no suprise really.

Noise reduction is great...

I think i'll wait a little while and see if it goes BOGOF in B&Q (good name for a song!). To the people that have completed this job 2 questions,

1) How many rolls did you use for the doors (front two. back one, side one)?

2) Did you do this conversion for heat retention or for sound proofing mainly?

Not sure if it's EXACTLY the same spec as ThermaWrap but Wickes do a version that is £13.70 for a 7m (i think) roll. Have just used a roll to make some window screens to help stop some of my much valued warmth escaping
