Where is the Engine number

Hi, Need to find the engine number for insurance people. Can't seem to find anything with that seems right.

Apparently the van's had a reconditioned engine put in, but where would the usual place be for the engine num and what format does it take ?

what type of engine? Diesel? Petrol 1.9 or 2.1 - does help mate

Sorry ! Guy I bought it from says its a 2.0 petrol

Engine numbers.
The engine number is stamped on the engine block.
Diesels - Between and below injector numbers 3 and 4.
2.0l air-cooled - By the breather box on the case.
WBX - on top of the engine near the distributor.
