Mirrors?

Post by Rich-B »

Hi,
Im sure the other day I read somewhere about a T25 having wing mirrors off a passat or something like that? anyone heard of or got any mirror modifications? I would have thought putting car mirrors on the van may be a touch small and not give you that good a vision :?

VW Corrado mirrors are a good alternative.
I am about to fit a set to my bus.
A search of the forums should produce some interesting reading, do a search on the brick yard as well.

Some people fit them direct which means drilling another hole in the door, I am making some adaptors.

IF u manage to get a set of adaptors which fit the Corrado opposing 15 degree bolts (+they are unique to each side of the van) and can produce more than the monstrously expensive ones I was quoted for let us know u may make a few pounds!! :D
They are a very good mod anyway!!
Thats PEET as in FEET!!!

PEET - I cheated! I bored down through the corrado mirror mounting holes to remove the annoying 15degrees.
So now the two screws are parallel, I removed the two protrusions so that the mirrors sit flat.
To bring the mirrors out from the door more I plan to put a 15 mm spacer betwixt mirror and door.

Initially the spacer will be secured by one screw onto the door (probably the rear of the original mirror mount).
Then one screw (front) will pass from the mirror through the spacer forward into mirror mounting hole.
The second (rear) mirror mounting screw will mate with a tapped hole in the spacer.
This way I should not have to drill another hole in the door.

I have already made some mock-ups out of Mahogany they appear to be okay, there is a slight droop of the mirrors.

I intend to do everything by hand.
