Sump Plug 1.6TD

Post by Fully Loaded Cali' »

Sump plug thread is damaged, I need to either Helicoil or Re-tap to a larger size. As I have been quoted £55.00 for a heli coil kit I would prefer to re-tap.

Does anyone know what vehicle would use anything larger than an m14?

I thought renault used m16 but ended up arguing with some guy in a dealer showroom today 'cause i couldn't give him the registration no. of the vehicle to put into his computer

Thanks.

Why not use a cut-down m16 bolt with a water or copper washer?

Sorted, used a Peugeot (i know it's French and will most probably drop off) sump plug which is an M16 x 1.5 and ran a M16 x 1.5 Taper or first Tap through the sump, no drilling required as the Tap will pick up on the buggered hole. :ok
